Quick Post before Work

Well, it's my weekend to work, and I'm missing a local Grand Prix, which sucks, but my parents left for Cancun this morning and I had to drive them to the airport @ 5 a.m. Durrrrrrrrr

Now off to work for 8 hrs, then skipping school for sure tomorrow before closing out the 4 day stretch from hell at work 4-11.

Songs of the Second:

Taking Back Sunday - This Photograph is Proof
Taking Back Sunday - Cute without the E (acoustic)
Taking Back Sunday - A decade under the influence
Taking Back Sunday - Great Romances of the 21st Century (with Beautiful Girls quote)

People in the know understand what that last one means to me.

Work

School + Work is a deadly combo, made deadlier when you get the dreaded "can you stay late tonight (I'm not asking really)" call. So tonight I'll be working the two busiest runs with a shorthanded staff. Filling prescription medication never seemed so daunting.

Songs for the Shift:
Cruiserweight - I'm Back
The Beatles - Hard Day's Night
Nate Dogg + Warren G - Regulate
OK Go - Get Over It
Straylight Run - Dignity and Money
The Hives - Main Offender (WHYYYYYYYYYYYY MEEEE)

GO GO 2 AM Posting Action

Yeah, so I can't sleep even though I have school in 4 hours and a long day of work after that. Why not? The answer is pretty simple. Although nothing is really bothering me, the fact that nothing is bothering me is starting to bother me. How's that for a circular sentence that makes no sense at all? What I mean by that is that while nothing is particularly bad, nothing is really particularly great either, and the fact that I'm so accepting of that fact is sort of disheartening. On the other hand, maybe I'm just looking for something to stress about because I'm used to being stressed out.

Taking a cue from my friends Steve and Westfall, I'd like to state some goals for the rest of the month.

1. Pay back all debts (Westfall/Dad/Nate)
2. Continue Exercising 3 times per week
3. Continue on my quest to learn more about baseball and the inner workings of the game.
4. Make a concerted effort to meet and accept new people
5. Stay Positive

As an aside, I set up my old hard drive on my new cpu, so now I have access to a few thousand additional mp3s from the Marquette days as well as some stuff from my first 2 years back home. Kind of weird to see/hear the stuff I was really into in those days, but I'm sure I'll do the same with the current music. So without further adeiu, the songs of the second (from the VAULT edition):

American Hi-Fi - Flavor of the Week
Oleander - I Walk Alone
Ben Folds Five - Underground
AFI - Dancing Through Sunday
Dashboard Confessional - Saints and Sailors

I would be remiss (and this will be the subject of a post at a later date) if I didn't mention some of the great successes that my friends have become recently. Today's props, just because I'm thinking about them or looking at my buddy list and seeing their names:

Joe Mazzola, a grad student down in Fla, having the time of his life.

Sean Knurek, soon to be DOCTOR after attending the program at the University of Wisconsin as well as marrying his longtime sweetheart Jess this summer.

John Marks, winner of TWO WSOP buyins on Partypoker in the past two weeks. Each one valued at over 13k.

Cedric Phillips, winner of a PTQ: London this past weekend. Maybe win a match this time out, Ced?

Matt Westfall, poker barn extraordinaire. In all seriousness, he's gone off in the past couple weeks as well, winning 6k in a $30 buyin tourney and posting a number of other high finishes.

Tim Aten, for winning (?) a slot in the M:TG Invitational. No one deserves it more.

If I missed anyone, too damn bad.

This Week's Random Post

I'm really bad about posting on my blog, I admit, but I'm not ready to just give up on the idea yet. So in order for me to actually post, I guess I'll stick with a little music post and try and do something substantial soon. I'm in a pretty good mood as of late, with finances settling down, baseball starting, and school winding down. Things are actually decent!

This week's hits:
Head Automatica - Beating Heart Baby
Gratitude - Drive Away
Alkaline Trio - Time to Waste (sweet piano at the start and then RAWK)
The Used - I'm a Fake (holy crap Bert is angry)
