Still Alive and Kicking
Whoa,
I'm back...and better than ever.
Ok, that's a gross exaggeration, but I am back to posting regularly on my Blog here. Strangely little has happened since my last post, but I'll try and hit the highlights.
--Got a new car. Strangely enough, in my last blog, I mentioned how I doubted Betsy would get through another winter, and I was right. The entire frame rotted out! After that debacle, fate sorta forced my hand into getting something to drive to work and school. I decided that now was a good time to grow up and take on a car payment, getting a brand new 2006 Ford Focus (grey). It's name is Frida and it will carry on the noble tradition of Betsy, although with heated seats, defroster, a rear view mirror, and two windshield wipers, it won't be the same. RIP Betsy.
--Got a new job. Well, sorta. In December, Neighborcare transferred me to Omnicare in Wadsworth in preparation for the closing of Neighborcare in February. I remain a Pharmacy Technician full-time, working every night from 4-12:30. It's a little rough but the scenery is nice (the amount of absolutely stunning women there is absurd, there must be something in the water.) Jobs are jobs so it's obviously nothing great, but it pays ok and I like the people well enough so far, especially my partners at night, two guys named Dave, but one that we call Spruce because his last name is Confer, close to connifer, and you know what screw you we can call him Spruce if we want to call him Spruce.
--Got a haircut. The "Jimmy Johnson" is dead folks. I killed it, but proudly I outlasted Jimmy himself before I changed (he debuted a spiked hair look this postseason). I now have what some people call the "Westfall" aka token white guy haircut circa 2006. I say, better than token white guy haircut circa 1988, but the change has been met with mourning by some of the Johnson's fans.
--Got some self-respect. I keep losing weight at a nice rate, I've been buying new clothes and I joined a gym. What's going on here? If you guessed "women" you'd be right, at least partially. I someday hope to meet one of these "women" and maybe even talk to one if the time is right. Who knows what might happen in the future?
--Got called a racist and other such nonsense. Basically I wanted to talk about school briefly but didn't have a clever "got," so I'll go with this story. I was called a racist because I dared say Thomas Jefferson was not a bad person despite the fact that he owned slaves. EVERY rich guy in 1780 Virginia owned slaves. Yes, in retrospect it was clearly awful and inhumane etc, but at the time he was doing what everyone else did, and he even did so with some sense of apprehension ("where would they go?" he asked in a famous letter). The man crafted the ideals that stand behind "American Freedom" and while we may have lost sight of many of those things, they were revolutionary for the time. School has been going well this semester, although I fully debacled a Physics test where I knew all the answers but accidentally skipped a bubble on the scantron, resulting in an embarassing 17/40 despite my assertations that all of my answers were right (I mean, I "answered" D on a question with no D option.) Professor Jerkstore wouldn't change my grade, but at least he drops the lowest so it's not the end of the world.
--Got some new music. It's a little late to run the t10 songs of 2005, but Fall Out Boy was the clear winner there so who cares anyways. On the other hand, I do have some freshness for y'all today in the form of....
Songs of the Second:
1. Panic! at the Disco - The Only Difference...
2. Fall Out Boy - A Little Less "Sixteen Candles" a Little More "Touch Me."
3. SR-71 - Politically Correct (from the VAULT)
4. Yellowcard - Rough Landing, Holly
5. Three 6 Mafia - Poppin' My Collar
6. The Working Title - The Mary Getaway
7. Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah
8. Sly and the Family Stone - Dance to the Music
9. Hinder - Lips of an Angel (yes, the "Get Stoned" band, don't ask me how it's possible to make a song that bad, and a song this good)
10. A Hero from a Thousand Paces - Philidelphia
You may notice if you have heard/dl these songs, a return of HIPPY MUSIC~! By that I mean, wussy music that I like to listen to while I cry at the sad state of my life. Wait, I didn't say that. Nevermind. Ignore this paragraph.
--Got Banned from the DCI. Guess I shouldn't have added that Putrefy. Wait, I didn't add any Putrefy. And I called a judge over. Hm. Banned until May anyways, good beats.
--Got some new goals in life. Here goes...
1. Pay off all debts. My dad will be paid up in full in July, my car is a fine payment that I can handle, same with insurance. Why do I need to do this, you ask?
2. Move out. My family has pretty much been great about me living here, but enough is enough right? I need to have my own place or share with a roommate or something, but living at home needs to go the way of the dodo. As I said, they've been great about it, but showing some sense of responsibility and trying to be an adult would be a good thing.
3. Get a "real" job. Working at the pharmacy is great for now, while I'm in school, but hopefully school will be done in the next year or two (changing majors FTL) and then we move towards adulthood even more. I'm a late bloomer, but it's time to start getting serious and reaching some of the AWESOMESAUCE potential that I have. Seriously, I do have infinite potential so maybe I should try and do something with it.
Short Term:
1. Get laid. Yeah, I know, it's sorta creepy to talk about here, but I'm 24 years old and months long droughts have gotta stop. Time to get the Game in order and start working. Again, I'm feeling pretty good about myself, and even though I have a long way to go, at this point I'm a pretty good catch imo.
2. Get paid. I'd like to do something with my tax return that would pay dividends instead of just going out to eat and watching it disappear. Either poker or sports betting seems like a fine idea, but I'm not sure that they are the BEST idea. JMS productions, anyone?
3. Stay fresh to death. I need to keep buying new clothes, working on my body/mind/heart like a character from
I think that's all for now, but I'll try and update more frequently because really, why not? People care about my life and I gotta keep pleasin' my freaks and flexin' my peaks.
